Depth Psychotherapy

Who I Work With

You’re the life of the party (when you’re feeling up to going out) making others laugh with your witty comments, but when you get in the car to go home, you are hit with feelings of doubt about whether or not anyone actually likes you. Maybe you are ruminating over that one thing you said that didn’t land as you expected, or you worry that the connections you made that evening are fleeting and won’t last. Either way, it’s hard to shake the feeling that anyone in that room will be there when you need them in the future.

If you are finding a sense of disconnection like this in your relationships, feeling misunderstood by those closest to you, or maybe you simply want to understand your own emotions and reactions better, it might be time to explore this in therapy. My goal is to uncover the deeper connections that are fueling these patterns in your life.

My approach

I work from a neurobiologically informed framework (IPNB) that is rooted in the latest research on development, neuroscience, trauma and attachment.

Often described as a depth-oriented, “bottum-up” approach to trauma therapy, I utilize EMDR therapy, as well as looking at the combination of your experiences,  automatic responses, somatic sensations, emotions and core beliefs in an attempt to heal by understanding, first, how you got here.

A major takeaway from my years of training, research and clinical experience is that relationships matter. This includes our relationship with ourself, our closest relationships in our lives now, our primary caregivers from our newborn days. It also matters in the therapeutic relationships that we choose. Because of this, I take the therapeutic relationship seriously and will often bring relational principles into therapy.

My primary mission is to heal and prevent childhood wounds.

What does this mean? It means that I work with adults on healing their wounds, many of them are deeply rooted from childhood. The prevention piece comes in to explains why I have studied Infant-Parent Mental Health and now enjoy working with parents of young children.
