My Background, Training and Philosophy

My Path

I began college with the intention to become a therapist for teen girls. I was spooked after a brush with my own mental health concerns that coincided with family conflict. This left me thinking that there was no way I could help others and prompted me to lean into my other interest, English Literature, as my major. If you’ve ever been in an advanced lit class, you know that it quickly starts to feels like armchair psych.

I then spent a decade running a business in another helping profession and finally regathered the courage to step back onto the path to become a therapist. My only regret is not doing it sooner.

Training Experiences

During my training years I worked at a variety of organizations that gave me unique perspectives and allowed me to serve people from diverse communities. My training included time at the UCSF Epilepsy Center, Liberation Institute, several Bay Area middle and high schools, Adolescent Counseling Services, and an outpatient group practice which specialized in EFT for couples.

As my career has progressed, I have continued to seek intensive specialized training completing courses in perinatal mental health, EMDR, childhood emotional neglect, play therapy, Internal Family Systems, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and I am also a graduate of the esteemed 15-month UC Davis / Napa Parent Infant Mental Health Institute Fellowship.
